About Allt Fach

Located above the Mawddach Estuary, in one of the most scenic, unspoiled areas in Europe, Allt Fach (which translates as Small Hill in English)  owns a premium spot on a wooded hillside, a five-minute drive from Dolgellau. This fine property presents guests with a unique opportunity to wake up each morning to the unrivalled views of the spectacular Cadair Idris Mountain range.

With three gorgeous bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 6, this new build has just been completed for August 2021, it's an absolute gem filled with funky, colourful furniture and high spec facilities throughout, a luxury home from home in which to enjoy time with friends or family all year round.

All the downstairs rooms have big double patio doors leading onto a full-length balcony with outside benches. In the lounge, the nordic log burner is the focal point once the light fades outside and there's plenty to do indoors when you're not out exploring. A large open plan kitchen/dining living space has the wow factor, it's filled with light, creating a truly relaxing space to gather together for a meal.

Modern bathrooms and a downstairs WC, provide all the luxuries required after a day playing in the Snowdonia mountains or coastal beach walks at nearby Barmouth.

The contemporary property design blends seamlessly with its elevated position taking full advantage of the breathtaking views from the three sets of patio doors that open out onto a full-length balcony.

The property is enclosed and is child and pet friendly.

Sleeps a maximum of 6 guests, in 3 bedrooms, all on the 1st floor, 2 of which are designed to enjoy the incredible views from the comfort of your bed. 

Comprising one double master bedroom with Juliette balcony, wardrobe, armchairs, ensuite bathroom with beautiful moss decor, WC, walk-in shower, vanity mirror, washbasin and vertical radiator.

One double bedroom
on the first floor with walk-in wardrobe, welsh blankets, bedside tables, cast iron radiator.

One twin bedroom on the first floor with two single beds, crisp white linen, bedside cabinets, cast iron radiators and the most amazing views over Cadair Idris.

Family bathroom
on 1st floor with bath, overhead rain shower, plus a handheld shower, WC, vanity unit with washbasin.
Ground-floor WC with washbasin.

Spacious lounge
with big glass doors opening onto the patio, two yellow armchairs and large L shaped sofa in teal, a large flat-screen TV, feature slate wall, standard lamp and local photographic art, coffee tables, laminated wooden floors and a nordic log burner( starter basket of logs provided). 

The main entrance door opens into an open plan kitchen diner. There is a ground floor WC, with a washbasin.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, washer-dryer, fridge freezer, toaster, superb stand alone kitchen island for sociable food prep, it also has plenty of storage. A microwave, 5 ring electric hob and double oven range cooker provide all you could need for a very comfortable stay. A Nespresso coffee machine is a welcome addition to your breakfast preparation.

The property has parking for 3 cars with slate shingles driveway. There is an enclosed lawn and garden area.

There is secure storage for bikes and canoes, below the property. Please only use the area beneath the house to store your outdoor equipment and to access the wood store as care needs to be taken with children and the infirm.

Beautiful house, very well equipped, good quality furnishings, soft furnishings and appliances. Everything you could need for a lovely holiday. My only complaint would be an extra towel per person for a weeks stay and a gag for the neighbours cockerel

A beautiful cottage in a lovely, quiet location. Plenty to do within a 30 minute drive. Nice walk to Dolgellau and the very dog friendly Stag Inn (great food too). We stayed over Christmas so didn't venture out too much but would definitely return. Gorgeous kitchen with everything you could need. Best welcome pack I've ever seen!

Perfect, my only comment is the strong smell of gas which came from the gas tank in the garden, coming from a city its not something we are used too.

The garden was described as fully enclosed which would have been perfect for our springer spaniel. For us, this was the worst point, it was far from enclosed. There's room for a dog to get under the gate, there's a gap by the gate down to the lower level which our spaniel could have accessed. Behind the grassed area there's a hole in the fence, and the fencing around the grassed area could easily have been walked around and down into the woods. This meant we had to keep Daisy on the lead at all times outside which wasn't ideal.The other minor point was the cleaner needs to look up. The ensuite velux windows was filthy and covered in cobwebs. But apart from these 2 issues everything else was to a very high standard.

Step out in any direction and you won't have far to go to discover something interesting. The market town of Dolgellau is a five-minute drive down the hill and boasts a selection of tempting cafes, restaurants and individual shops. The wonderful Dylan Wine Bar/ shop is an absolute must where you will be spoilt for choice and the knowledgable staff have been on hand to advise.

Allt Fach is the perfect place to base yourself to explore this breathtaking corner of Wales, and if you are into outdoor activities, the range on offer is world-class and will not disappoint.

From mountain biking at Coed y Brenin, horse riding at Bwlchgwyn, or underground adventures at Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog, Zip-wires at Blaenau and Bethesda, a surf centre in Dolgarrog. Rock climbing, gorge walking, canoeing and sea kayaking on the estuary.

Wonderful choice of walks, from the gentle to the most strenuous locally with the precipice walk literally behind the property on the mountain.

The area offers a brilliant combination of water, mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches and forests, combining to present a ruggedly beautiful series of landscapes, constantly changing in response to weather, season, time of day, and tide.

Coed Y Brenin,
The internationally renowned Coed Y Brenin mountain biking centre is a 5-minute drive up the road towards Trasfynydd. This is Wales' largest dedicated mountain bike trail centre and not only has miles of exceptional single-track paths for experienced and expert riders but great family and intermediate trails for all abilities too. You can rent a bike on-site so don't need to miss out if there's no room in the car to bring your own. Coed Y Brenin café serves a great range of drinks and home-cooked cakes and meals and they also have 24hr toilets on site.

The seaside town of Barmouth is a 15-minute drive away and a little further up the coast is Harlech. Here you'll find the 12th century Harlech Castle, a remarkable building, in a remarkable position, which now forms part of a World Heritage Site.
