Harlech coastal holiday home, with spectacular sea views near golf & beach

  • With fabulous sweeping views overlooking Harlech beach & Royal St Davids Golf Course, this unique coastal holiday home makes for a very special holiday with over 8 acres of grounds to enjoy.
  • This magnificent Harlech coastal holiday home once belonged to the benevolent Cadbury Quaker family, the famous chocolate manufacturers.It was built in 1904 by an army Colonel who had spent time in South Africa during the Boer War and its design reflects the architecture of the Boers with Dutch gables and a red tiled roof.
  • The interior is reminiscent of the sumptuousness of the Edwardian period with a wealth of antique furniture balanced by stylish fabrics in curtains, bedding and walls covered in the owner's and her family's art work.
  • Three of the stylish and distinctive bedrooms have French windows leading out onto the balcony, holiday guests will be captivated by the magnificent bay, 3 bedrooms have En-Suite shower rooms.
  • Hafod Wen offers something for everyone - stunning views, great walks from the doorstep and the children will love the pavilion and play area.
  • The helpful owners live on site in an entirely separate wing and there is a completely independent cottage ~ Cottage at Hafod Wen (Ref 1253) ~ entered through a garden room at the rear of Hafod Wen with its own patio and lawn.

8 acres of beautiful grounds

  • The beautiful gardens are not to be outdone by the incredible views - there are some 8 acres of shared grounds to enjoy. Garden enthusiasts may find them of particular interest!
  • Children and adults alike will love to wander and discover secret little lawns and footpaths of this Harlech holiday home and there is a bowling green and pavilion which holiday guests are encouraged to use and a children's play area.
  • The gardens are the ideal place to relax and unwind - enjoy long, relaxed breakfasts and lunches on the outside terrace or take a stroll around the grounds with a mug of coffee. stopping to sit and admire the views from the terraced areas.
  • This is also a working garden with orchards, vegetable garden and beehives.
  • The owners, who live at the rear of the property, are happy to help arrange various activities such as mountain bike hire, book 'tee off' time, find active adventure packages, provide local maps and arrange walks of particular interests, including conducted local garden tours.

Separate bathroom, corner bath only. and hand shower. Children's pull out bed available by prior arrangement. All on 1st floor.

Dining Room dining table and chairs seating 8, fitted bookcases/library, stereo system.

Sitting Room Edwardian brick fireplace with open fire and electric fire, 2 x 2 seater sofas, 3 wing chairs, 2 armchairs, TV/DVD, occasional tables, Victorian sideboard, 2 wooden chairs, piano.

Grounds 8 acres of garden with terraces, patio, decking, lawns, bowling green, garden furniture. Care with toddlers and children please, not enclosed.

Harlech Beach - 15 minute walk from Hafod Wen

  • This beach is beyond compare and is perhaps one of the finest stretches of sand anywhere in Britain and from where there are sublime views including the medieval castle in all its splendour rising behind the sand dunes.
  • From this unique coastal home, the sandy beach is a leisurely 15 minute stroll.

Harlech

  • The historic town of Harlech is dominated by its magnificent castle and has a good range of local amenities including independent shops, cafe, chemist and filling station.

    The Royal St. David's Golf Course, Harlech

    • One of Wales's finest courses situated behind sand dunes with the great solid mass of Edward 1st mighty castle beyond - a truly special location.

    Snowdonia and North Wales

    • There are many beautiful valleys, mountains and lakes in the hinterland. A fine example nearby is Cwm Bychan with its lake, feral goats, meandering river and ancient woodlands. It has a timeless quality hard to find in modern Britain.

    Surf Snowdonia

    • All levels of experience are catered for in this state of the art wave lagoon. Learn or improve your surfing skills a long way from the sea.

    • Head for Zip World a venue packed with exciting family friendly activities. Try riding the longest Zip Wire in Europe, The Fforest Coaster, a toboggan run on rails through the forest, Bounce Below a deep slate cavern strung with trampolines joined by slides and ladders all lit by colourful neon lights or Tree Tops Trampolines to see how the birds like to live!

      Portmeirion Italianate Village & Ffestiniog Railway, Theatre Ardudwy

      • A short drive away is Portmeirion designed by Sir Clough-Williams Ellis, the Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway and the whole of Snowdonia to explore. Nearby is Theatr Ardudwy a modern theatre which offers a varied programme of plays, music, dance and the latest films. The foyer and bar area often exhibit paintings or photographic work, a pleasant way to browse with pre theatre drinks!

      Welsh Highland Railway

      • The Welsh Highland Railway runs along a spectacularly scenic route from Caernarfon to the flanks of Snowdon climbing over 650' before zigzagging dramatically to the village of Beddgelert and the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass.

      Precipice Walk & Barmouth Seaside Town

      • The 3 mile precipice walk is suitable for families. It takes about one and a half hours and offers stunning views of the Mawddach estaury and Snowdonia.
      • Do visit the picturesque resort of Barmouth with soft golden sands surrounded by Snowdonia National Park.

      Salem Chapel, Cefncymerau near Llanbedr

      • Salem Chapel and attached caretakers cottage is now a Cadw Grade II listed building. The chapel was made famous by artist Sydney Curnow Vosper (1866 -1942) who painted an old lady Sian Owen in a stove pipe hat and Welsh costume attending the chapel. A copy of the painting hangs in the chapel. The original hangs in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Liverpool.

      • Take a drive to Criccieth 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia' and 'Gateway to the Lleyn Peninsula.
