Why we recommend Jones' Stable...

Jones' Stable is a pretty, fullly renovated cottage a 2-mile walk to stunning Three Cliffs Bay on The Gower Peninsula. Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Lunnon and just a country mile from the local pub. Pet friendly.

About Jones' Stable
Originally stables for the shire horses this fully renovated cottage is wonderfully located for exploring the fantastic golden beaches, crystal clear rock pools and glorious country walks of The Gower.
  • Leave the hassle of life behind when you enter The Gower Peninsula.  Take the south coast road and then climb the winding lane to the hamlet of Lunnon and a jumble of pretty farm cottages await you.  JOnes' Stable is at the end of a terrace that has been sympathetically renovated to provide a comfortable retreat, just for two.
  • Neat and bright this cottage will welcome you straight in.  There are smart furnishings in the lounge with its cottage windows overlooking the original stone barns.  Look out for the photograph showing Farmer Jones leading those massive shires across the fields in days long ago but still proudly remembered.
  • To the rear is a well-equipped galley style kitchen and a stable door leads to the side access.  There is plenty of room for contented tired dogs to lay out here as well as lots of room for sandy surf boards or muddy boots after a long and satisfying day spent in this idyllic Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
  • The bedroom is tranquil and inviting with Welsh Quilts to snuggle under on star-filled inky black nights.  The owners have also thoughtfully provided a modern and squeaky clean bathroom which has lashings of hot water.
  • The sunny south facing garden to the front of the property is ideal to sit and while away an afternoon, or maybe you will choose to breakfast al fresco in this quiet idyllic spot.  Sundowners after long days exploring the beaches will be a must as you watch the big sky sunsets that Gower is famous for.
  • Welcome pack provided, tea and coffee, Welsh Cakes and household essentials.

  • Three Cliffs.Bay is absolutely gorgeous!   Follow the gentle river - Pennard Pill along the peaceful valley to the sea.  This magical walk will take you past Penmaen castle, salt marshes and sand dunes and finally the three cliffs themselves. The sands are pale and fine, the cliffs are popular with climbers- the famous Three Cliffs Arch in the rock frames the sparkling seas beyond. There is a stepping stone bridge which allows you to cross the river on the Penmaen side of the bay that means can ventureture all the way to Oxwich Bay along the seashore,  but watch out that the tide doesn’t cut off your return! Seasonal lifeguard station only- please take care with children and dogs.

The Gower Inn

  • Take a walk through the Ilston Cwm woods down to The Gower Inn for an ale or two.  Honest and friendly this pub serves good food, ideal after a day on the beach.

Rhossili Beach and Worms Head

  • Voted Best Beach in Europe 2018, this stunning sweep of sand at the tip of The Gower Peninsula will take your breath away. Strike out along the iconic cliff walk. There are breathtaking views from the golden sands of Rhossili. Stop off on your return for lunch at The Bay Bistro. There are stunning views from every table of beautiful Rhossili Beach and home-made treats to make your day complete. If the tide is out you will even see the bones of The Helvetia wreck reaching out through the sands.

Gower Coast Adventures - Boat Trips (May to September)

  • Take a boat trip aboard a large RIB (rigid inflatable boat) to explore the Gower coast from Mumbles to Worms Head.  Passengers are picked up and dropped off at Knab Rock, Port Eynon and Oxwich and taken along the coast to spot grey seals, porpoises and dolphins as well as seabirds such as Razorbills and Guillemots (June and July), Gannets and Sheerwaters.

The Gower Coast Path

  • This is a fabulous section of the All Wales Coast Path, this section follows the entire peninsula with castles, marshes, wild ponies and wildly beautiful beaches at every turn.Whether you want a gentle stroll or a major expedition, this is a truly fantastic walk at any time of the year.

The National Show Caves of Wales

  • Discovered in 1912 by the Morgan Brothers, Dan-yr-Ogof Show Caves are an adventurous day out and natural wonder. You will be amazed by the famous formations - the “Rasher of Bacon”, the heavenly “Angel” and the “Alabaster Pillar” .  The Dinosaur Park is a fascinating edition.

Mumbles Seaside Village, Pier & Lighthouse

  • Mumbles village has been in the spotlight many times in recent years, it is easy to see why, as its brightly painted houses tumble down the narrow lanes to The Promenade, The Pier and LIghthouse beyond.  Mumbles is spot on for retail therapy and a long and languid lunch to follow. Choose from one of the shiny new restaurants that line The Promenade, with views of Swansea Bay to die for!  Walk off any excesses with a brisk stroll along The Promenade - head East and visit Oystermouth Castle.
Oystermouth Castle
  • A recently installed aerial walkway leads into the atmospheric Norman fortification where the days of old are brought to life.
Langlands Bay and Brasserie
  • Nestled into the headland of Langland Bay a beach from a bygone era preserved for our pleasure.  Green and white beach huts sit like stout soldiers keeping watch over the young surfers bobbing in the waves.  Langlands Brasserie serves great beers and modern European food, why not stick around and watch the sun fade over the water?  Memories are made here.
Days away...
  • Take a tour of the fabulous Brecon Beacons National Park, one of great Britain's breathing spaces. Enjoy breath taking scenery, vibrant market towns, steam train rides, canal barge tours, excellent food, walking, mountain biking and thrilling adventure activities.
