About The Area
Pobbles Bay
  • Stroll down through the dunes to discover the sheltered cove of Pobbles.  South facing and backed by the National Trust Cliff Path it is dog-friendly all year round, as are most of the Gower Beaches.  With no vehicle access this beach really is paradise.

S
outhgate

  • It is an easy walk through the village to Three Cliffs Cafe for delicious coffee and cakes.  From here head out on the Coastal Path to Brandy Cove or Three Cliffs Bay and beyond. The Southgate Club is just 200 metres away for an evening jar and The Pennard Golf Club is even closer and is voted Number 2 of the Best Golf Clubs in Britain for its' stunning cliff top location and old-school charm.
Three Cliffs Bay
  • Three Cliffs Bay is just over the hill from the cottage.  The castle, the salt marshes, the sand dunes, and the three cliffs themselves makes this destination unique. The cliffs are popular with climbers, and what a location, you can actually walk underneath the cliffs at low tide through the  archway. There are stepping stones to cross the river on the Penmaen side of the bay (west), but watch the tide to get back.  It is possible to walk all the way to Oxwich Point along the sands from here.
Oxwich Bay
  • The privately owned Oxwich Bay, part of Penrice Estate is just a short drive. Many rare plants grow among the unspoiled protected sand dunes.  Hire a sailing dinghy, kayak or longboard to admire Gower from the sea. Take lunch or high tea at Oxwich Bay Hotel which has stunning sea views.
Mumbles and The Pier
  • Mumbles village is 10 minutes away. Here you will find a good standard of boutiques and gift shops as well as high street brands.  There are many bars and restaurants, including PIerresBistro with sweeping views of Swansea Bay accompanied by classic Frenc Bistro cuisine, Oystermouth Castle majestically overlooking Swansea Bay is one of Wales' finest castles.  Recently restored, explore parts that have been hidden away for centuries, and learn about the castle's exciting history -  ancient graffiti art from the 14th century, private staircases leading from vaults to previous banqueting halls and a 30-foot high glass bridge. Plays and recitals are often haeld here.
  • Mumbles Pier
  • This delightful nod to our Victorian past has pastimes for young and old alike –  arcade machines, a bowling alley.  Nobody does delicious coffee and ice cream like  Verdi's Italian Cafe - just along The Promenade the perfect place to watch the sailing in Swansea Bay.
The Gower Way and King Arthur's Stone
  • HIkers love to follow the ancient byway to Cefn Bryn and King Arthur's Stone, a Neolithic burial chamber that stands mysteriously at the top. The legends say it was formed from a stone thrown out of King Arthur's shoe - stunning sunsets and panoramic views of the North and South Gower beaches lay all around and it is possible to see all the way to  Pembrokeshire and Lundy Island from this magnificent atmospheric place. This is common land so you will share your walk with sheep, cattle and wild Gower ponies, whilst Red Kites fly overhead, there is no better place to discover the beauty of Wales.

Swansea Marina,  and National Waterfront Museum

  • Swansea Marina is host to 2 diverse Museums, The National Waterfront Museum tells the story of industry and innovation in Wales, now and over the last 300 years.
  • In contrast the Swansea Museum tells the tale of local heritage, where you can discover the  Mumbles Railway,  Britain's  first ever passenger railway. Cafes, bars and restaurants abound in this newly revitalized area of Swansea's fascinating past.

Places To Eat

  • The Plough and Harrow at Murton is a must.  Just 5 minutes drive, this gastropub serves the best of local produce, booking required.
  • Oxwich Bay - sample locally sourced cutting edge food at The Beach House Restaurant newly opened sister restaurant to Coast at Saundersfoot and The Grove at Narberth. Ask for a table at the waters edge for beachside views.
  • Mumbles Village is just a 10-minute drive away. glass  Croseo Lounge serves modern British cuisine and has good child facilities slolppy sofas and is dog-friendly too.  Perfect for a slow breakfast or laid back lunch. La Perilla brings Mediterranean speicials to Mumbles.  All three venues are on The Promenade and have sea views across the water.  The glass terrace is the spot to be at at high tide to watch the water skiers glide by.
  •  The Mumbles Sea Food Shack on The Promenade cooks locally sourced seafood to order for a new take on the traditional fish and chips.  If tradition is your thing be prepared to wait for fantastic fish and chips fromYallops and then eat them on the sea wall- delicious!
  • Locals haunt Joes Ice Cream Parlour in the village vies with Verdi's Cafe along the Prom for the best Italian homemade ice cream, both are delicious and there is always room from just one more scoop.
  • Dog-friendly Caswell Bay Cafe welcomes dogs and their people.  Run by Nigel and staffed by local youngsters every morning you will be welcome for breakfast and always great coffee. Summer on the terrace and winter around the log burner this is a true gem.  Its' sister cafe at Victorian Langland Bay nestles amongst the pebbles on the beach.  Same coffee, same ambiance - different beach, a winning formula.
