Lovely building and garden. Beds very comfy. Kitchen rather dilapidated and furnishings very old, mismatched and uncomfortable . TV in downstairs room kept pixelating and cutting out. Upstairs TV not connected to live TV or internet. Could be so much better if these things were upgraded as the location is beautifu.l. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay. The nearby beaches are stunning.

A very good property overall. Lots of space for a group of 8, so we weren't constantly on top of each other. As this was New Year, we could not avail ourselves of the extensive patio and lawned area, but I am sure they would be great in summer. All parts of the house were clean; and the bedrooms, all with en-suites, were large and comfortable. Heating was good, including lovely log burner in communal lounge.Location is very central on the Gower, and in essence you will need to drive to get anywhere; particularly as there is no safe pavement on the road outside the long driveway. But those drives will be rewarded by some lovely beaches.Which brings to some areas where improvements could be made (but don't worry, it remains a good place for a holiday).Your sat nav should bring you straight to the driveway, but without one you may struggle as there was no sign on the roadside to indicate that the fairly small opening in the hedges was anything to do with this property.Immediately inside the front door is the door to one of the ground floor bedrooms. Whilst the room and en-suite facilities are fine, the bedroom door has glass panelling. Whilst this is opaque, it still lets light in from the hallway if anyone forgets ro turn the light off at night, Worse still, the toilet is immediately inside that doorway, leaving the user feeling slightly exposed to anyone passing by outside. Replace with a solid door.More crockery (particularly cups) would have been appreciated. There's definitely at least 8 of everything, but we seemed to run out quite quickly before needing to wash up (or let the dishwasher wash up).Whilst the kitchen is large, in reality (and particularly at breakfast time) it could get quite crowded as the space between the table and chairs and the work areas was limited by the space taken up by a large sofa. Whilst this was quite a nice sociable feature, it did limit movement elsewhere. All in all, this was near perfect for our group; and I am sure that others will love it as well.

Thank you for your review! We are so pleased to hear that you had such a wonderful time at Cae Forgan Barn over the New Year. It really is such a lovely property, and the log burner is a great addition for those colder months. The owner has provided some directions for the property that are sent over to all guests prior to their arrival, so we will speak with them to see if we can make these even clearer to avoid anyone missing their turning. We will also be sure to pass on your comments about the interior facilities and the kitchen inventory to see if further improvements can be made here as well. We are so glad that you felt the cottage was a perfect fit for your group, and we very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

What can I say, absolutely fabulous. The Barn had everything. A fantastic space, we were never on top of each other. It was beautifully furnished and equipped. The area is beautiful, we went to several beaches and The Gower Heritage centre. Great hostess who gave us fresh fruit & veg from the vegetable garden!

First big family holiday since lockdown and we couldn't have wished for a better location and superbly equipped cottage. Had a lovely week exploring this beautiful area and really appreciated having the family together. Loved the beaches especially Rhossili Bay, Oxwich, and Three Cliffs Bay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Caeforgan barn from 18-25 September. We were so lucky with the weather. The rooms, garden and facilities were, we all felt, the best we had ever enjoyed. So we are planning to come again next year COVID virus willing! Thanks, Gerry

About the Area

If you would like more information on the local area, please call us on 01348 837871 to speak to one of our friendly team.

Rhossili Beach and Worms Head

  • Stride out onto one of Wales's most iconic walks with stunning views of the golden sands of Rhossili to the towering limestone cliffs of the south Gower coast.
  • Always great for lunch is The Bay Bistro. Stunning views from every table of Rhossili Beach and home-made cakes. When the tide is low you can see the bones of The Helvitea shipwreck reaching out through the sands.

Three Cliffs Bay

  • Three Cliffs is one of Gowers' most iconic beaches and it is easy to see why. The river valley leading down to the sea is complete with castle, salt marshes and sand dunes. The Tor Headland is popular with climbers who can often be seen at dizzying heights - high above the sea. There are stepping stones to cross the river on the Penmaen side of the bay (west) but watch out that the tide doesn't cut off your return! The beach has a seasonal lifeguard station - please take care with children and dogs. The Wales Coastal Path can be accessed from here and continues right around Gower.

Gower Coast Adventures - Boat Trips (May to September)

  • Book a boat trip on a large RIB (rigid inflatable boat) to explore the Gower coast from Mumbles to Worms Head. Passengers are picked up and dropped off at Knab Rock, Port Eynon and Oxwich to be taken along the coast on a trip of a lifetime to spot grey seals, porpoises and dolphins as well as seabirds including Razorbills and Guillemots (June and July), Gannets and Sheerwaters.

The Gower Coast Path

  • Forming part of the fabulous All Wales Coast Path, this section of path threads itself along the entire peninsula with castles, beaches, rugged cliffs, ancient churches, fascinating caves once used by smugglers and a wealth of wildlife to explore.
  • Whether you want a gentle stroll or a longer hike, this is a beautiful and spectacular setting.

The Bay Rider

  • A fun family favourite the land train runs between Southend Gardens in Mumbles and the Blackpill Lido on bank holidays and throughout the summer.

Perriswood Archery and Falconry Centre

  • Enjoy a host of sporting activities near Oxwich beach. Experience archery sessions indoors or out (suitable for those of 6 years and older). This centre is a must for bird lovers too with 38 birds of prey on display and opportunities for meeting and holding some of them.

Oystermouth Castle, Mumbles

  • Majestically overlooking Oystermouth Bay, this is one of Wales' finest castles. Explore parts that have been hidden away for centuries and learn about the castle's exciting history. There is a new aerial bridge with a birds eye view. Events are held throughout the year.

Mumbles Village

  • Mumbles village is worth a day trip. Walk along the promenade to reach the Pier and ice cream parlours at Knab Rock. Stop off at Pierres Bistro along the way, or maybe take a cocktail at La Perilla on the glass rood terrace.
  • Verdis Italian Ice Cream Parlour is a perfect place to stop for coffee.
  • There are many retail opportunities to distract you ranging from high-end shops and independent boutiques to art galleries.

The National Show Caves of Wales

  • First discovered in 1912 by the Morgan Brothers, Dan-yr-Ogof Show caves are filled with beauty and natural wonders. You will be amazed by the famous formations - the Rasher of Bacon, the heavenly Angel and the Alabaster Pillar in the Dan yr Ogof Cave. Fantastic for little ones - over 220 life-sized dinosaur models in the Dinosaur Park.

Pembrey Country Park

  • Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and overlooking the coast of Carmarthen Bay, Pembrey Country Park is one of Wales's top visitor attractions providing a blend of coast and countryside.
  • Lots of attractions including 8 miles of sandy beach, the longest toboggan run in Wales, 130 meter-long dry ski slope, giant adventure playground, wildlife trails etc.
  • Year-round breaks are waiting just for you at this spacious barn conversion, ideal for families or friends sharing. 2 Dogs welcome.
