About Little Avalon
Gower holiday cottage (ground floor), dog-friendly, with fabulous coastal views near Three Cliffs Bay
  • Little Avalon is a single story semi-detached cottage in the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, located in the heart of Gower Peninsula in the village of Reynoldston.
  • Renovated to a high standard throughout, this perfect retreat offers a homely feel with every comfort provided, including a well-equipped kitchen for sunny breakfasts in which to plan the day's adventures, a luxurious bathroom and a sustainable wood burning hot tub, beckoning you for a well-deserved soak after your day of sightseeing.
  • Enjoy far reaching panoramic views across Rhossili Down to Oxwich Point and Devon beyond from the patio doors in the living area. Red kites, sparrow hawks and buzzards vie for territory over head by day and by night listen to barn owls calling from Mill Woods, an ancient woodland, once part of Penrice Estate and now a National Nature Reserve.

The Wellers
23rd March 2019

Firstly Reynoldston is a great central location for exploring The Gower, nowhere seemed more than a 15 or 20 minute drive away. Little Avalon has great views across open country and is an extremely stylish and comfortable property with everything you could possibly need to enjoy the beautiful Gower. Oxwich Bay is lovely and we also walked to Port Eynon. We went to a gin festival at The Kings Head in Llangennith (which serves good food and has a huge restaurant) but our personal highlight was walking out to The Worm at Rhossili Beach at low tide, eating our picnic way up high and watching the surfers catch the waves in the sunshine. (It's a challenging walk, proper walking boots required!) Last but not least is the splendid King Arthur pub at Reynoldston where you are always assured a warm welcome, good beer and great food. A very enjoyable few days.

King Arthur's Stone

  • At the top of Ceyfn Bryn you cannot miss King Arthur's Stone, a Neolithic burial chamber steeped in myth and legend.- reputedly formed from a stone throne out of King Arthur's shoe - stunning sunsets and views of North and South Gower beaches await you here as well Pembrokeshire and Lundy Island.
  • A few minutes drive will take you to the award winning beaches of Three Cliffs, Oxwich and Rhossili - pristine golden sands - seemingly everlasting peace and tranquillity
  • If you are feeling need for an adrenaline rush then look no further than LLangenith Beach. P J, a seasoned world champion surfer, will kit you out at his shop with all you need to surf, lessons are available too for beginners.

Places to Eat

  • An easy stroll away down a country lane leads to the popular pub and restaurant, The King Arthur Hotel - open fires, local ales and Welsh home cooking all conspire to lure you in.
  • The Fairyhill Restaurant - a little farther down the lane - offers warmth, hospitality and fine dining - carefully prepared and perfectly executed food, white linen, fine china, crystal glass. This is one of the ten best restaurants outside London, according to the Daily Telegraph, acclaimed by the Good Food Guide and bestowed with rosettes by the AA - no jacket required.
  • After a delicious supper wander home in time to watch the sunset over Rhossili and marvel at the sapphire sprinkled skies, here stargazing is a must - shooting stars are commonplace but never fail to amaze and are always dazzling.

Mumbles (Mwmbwls in Welsh)

  • This bustling fishing village (11 miles) is situated at the Western end of Swansea Bay, at the entrance to Gower Peninsula and is famous as a frequent haunt of Dylan Thomas and his friends.
  • A range of shops, cafes, wine bars, pubs and restaurants can be sampled with ice cream parlours dotted along the promenade. In the main tourist season the "Mumbles Land Train" can be seen chugging its way along the sea front, transporting people to and from Swansea, the birthplace of Dylan Thomas..

Oystermouth Castle, Mumbles

  • Majestically overlooking Swansea Bay this is perhaps one of Wales' finest castles. Explore parts that have been hidden away for centuries, and learn about the castle's exciting history - ancient graffiti art from the 14th century, private staircases leading from vaults to previous banqueting halls and a 30 foot high glass bridge. Events are held throughout the year, so a visit to one of Wales' finest castles is sure to enthral.

Mumbles Pier

  • Something here for everyone, young and old alike - arcade machines, bowling alleys and relaxing traditional afternoon tea in the exquisite Victorian-style Beach Hut Caf©.
