The small coastal town of Llantwit Major that sits along the Jurassic coast is one of the hidden gems of Wales. Packed with historic charm in the stone-walled lanes that date back to Roman Britain, the picturesque village is characteristically overgrown with ivy and filled with properties that date back to a range of eras that hints to its presence in the past- including the St Donat's Castle which is rumoured to be the scene of many parties during the roaring 20s.
As you walk the lanes of the town, you can hear the waves crash along the pebbly-sandy beach where you will find a collection of surfers and sun-bathers. Enjoy your days at the shops, or having a bite to eat at one of the pubs, restaurants or cafes in the town. Kids will simply adore the beach, the leisure centre and South Wales Karting Centre located 3.5 miles away in Llandow. Hop on the train for only 50-minutes and make your way to the lights and buzz of Cardiff city to enjoy the plethora of activities and sights there. When you've exhausted yourself, make your way back on the train and retreat to the sleepy town where you are sure to get some rest away from the noise of the city! Other accessible places by train include Bridgend (17-minutes), Neath (1 hour) and Swansea (1 hour 15-minutes).
