About Clear Springs

Secluded Georgian family sized farmhouse set into the hillside in a sheltered sunny green valley. Clear Springs, makes an excellent base from which to explore both coast and countryside.

  • The vintage-styled farmhouse interior is unique and a real delight to the eye, with attention to detail and comfort evident in every room.
  • The house has room for all age groups with the kitchen as the heart of the home. Well equipped for baking and cooking with a generous range cooker which will comfortably accommodate the largest of sunday roasts - this will be the favourite spot for many new chefs.
  • There is a snug complete with log burner perfect for curling up with a good book - and the lounge has sumptuous sofas, welsh blankets and views to the meadows beyond.
  • Bedrooms are special and snug - comfort is a byword in this well-loved farmhouse.
  • Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor will be appreciated by everyone in the cooler months and the flagstones and thick stone walls will keep the farmhouse cool in summer - all making Clear Springs a great choice all year round.
  • A shower room on the ground floor and bathroom on the first floor, complete with decadent bath tub, will make sure that everyone is ready to embrace the day.
  • The front garden blurs into meadows, a perfect spot for a picnic, al fresco dining and watching the pipistrelle bats flit in the dusk of evening.

My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful location where the farm was situated. The farmhouse itself was stunning. Designed to perfection with a huge amount of detail. It had everything you could possibly need, it felt like home and gave off that warm feeling. In our short stay, we had plenty to do, a short trip in the car depending on where we wanted to explore. Plenty of nice places to eat out. I can't thank Michelle & Gerry enough for letting us stay at the farm and we will 100% be returning this summer√ɬā√ā¬†

Me and my partner stayed at Clear Springs for a long weekend, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful location. The farm house is stunning, designed to perfection and huge attention to detail. It has everything you could possibly need, it felt like home and gave off that warm home feeling.

During our short stay we had had plenty to do, within a short trip in the car depending where we wanted to explore. Plenty of places to eat out. I can't thank Michelle and Gerry enough for letting us stay at the farm and will 100% be returning this summer!!

A complete change of scene and pace after a hectic year in London.

The house is so beautiful and so comfortable! You've done such a terrific job with it - even on rainy days. Our 5 year old remarked "I liked my sleigh bed and my little brother loved the cuddly sheep too." It was a pleasure to sit in the house and read/play games/watch films. The farm was great fun to walk around too. and the kids loved seeing the sheep. and especially the red kites overhead were memorable.

The Dolaucothi Gold Mine was a day out we all really enjoyed; ditto Dinefwr/Newton House. We had a warm welcome and good food at the Dolaucothi. The staff were very kind to the children too. Also the Caio Forest is stunning and the pub in the village very cosy (piano, fire, pool table).

We will visit again as soon as possible.

Another holiday in 'Big South Wales' and a big country it is!

We enjoyed getting a chance to speak Welsh. We have been practicing since our last visit (watching Pobol y Cwm on S4C helps).

The beach at Llangrannog was memorable. It's just west of New Quay and pretty impressive. Also, for the most edible mood we went to the Mulberry Bush wholefood cafe and shop in Lampeter. Every bite delicious. Go early for lunch as they run out of some items early. Thank you for the welcome pack, the champagne and supply of logs ... all very warming.

We loved relaxing with our chocolate labrador Josie in the peace and quiet of the countryside in this characterful property with quality fittings, sheets, beds etc. Very homely cottage.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch - lovely flowers, wine, milk, bread and butter. We especially loved its setting.

Llandeilo is lovely. The Cawdor pub is dog friendly in the courtyard - great for lunch. Food was first class in the friendly pub in Caeo.

It was a relaxed, cosy, comfortable holiday. A home from home especially for dog lovers.

About the Area

If you would like more information on the local area, please call us on 01348 837871 to speak to one of our friendly team.

Dolaucothi Gold Mines, in use from Roman times to the 20th century. National Trust

  • These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley. 2,000 years ago, the powerful Romans left behind a glimpse of gold-mining methods. The harsh mining environment continued in the 19th and 20th centuries, ending in 1938. The "Gold Miner" is on hand to lead you down the shallow mine and take you back to experience the conditions of the Roman, Victorian and 1930s underground workings. See and hear the 1930s mine and mine machinery. Have a go at gold panning and get a hands on experience of the frustrations of searching for real gold, what you find you can keep to remind you of your visit.
  • A 15 minute stroll away you will find The Dolaucothi Arms at Pumsaint. In 1862 it was noted as "a good specimen of an ancient Welsh hostelry√ā¬£ and today still provides a warm welcome and great local food.

Pont Annell walk, Caio Forest

  • This walk runs close to the home village of the 14th century king of Wales, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan. It's a circular walk through a conifer woodland named Caio Forest, where the deciduous and evergreen trees show off their contrasting colours. The walk is suitable for families, and you'll walk alongside the river Annell.

Brechfa Forest Mountain Bike Trails and Walks

  • Enjoy the woodland walks in the Brechfa Forest which follow the Gorlech River. With walks signposted either long or short or the highly regarded Brechfa Mountain Bike Trails, you can then retreat to The Black Lion in Abergorlech. Relax in the beer garden by the river and enjoy the view in the summer or toast yourself by the fire in the winter. Dogs are welcome here.

Aberaeron and the Ceredigion Beaches

  • Aberaeron has much to offer the visitor it is a charming regency town and with multi coloured houses, attractive harbour, restaurants and boutique shops. The Harbourmaster Restaurant has set the bar for good food in this seaside town. In the summer try the Cellar on the harbour for tapas, the Hive for expertly cooked cutting edge welsh produce and finish with local honey ice cream.
  • The towns of Lampeter and Tregaron are a short drive inland through the beautiful Aeron Valley, much loved by the poet Dylan Thomas who for a while lived locally. The beautiful coves of Tresaith, Llangranog and Mwnt, consistently voted amongst Britain's most stunning beaches are all close by.

New Quay and Dolphin Watching

  • A wildlife spotting boat trip is a top 'must do' on the Ceredigion coast as the inshore waters of Cardigan bay's Special Area of Conservation are home to Europe's largest population of bottlenose dolphins. A boat trip is a great way to see the coastline from a different perspective and to see a variety of wildlife, including dolphins, seals, porpoises, turtles and unusual species such as sunfish.
  • Why not pick up a picnic on the way? Llwynhelyg farm shop at Sarnau stocks many welsh delicacies for you to try and over 80 varieties of welsh cheese to fill your hamper.

Llandeilo

  • Just a 10 minute drive away in the other direction is Llandeilo, a busy, colourful and picturesque country town which climbs up the hillside from the River Towy. Meander around the twisted lanes or take a themed walk and discover all that Llandeilo has to offer. There are lots of individual and independent shops which sell a range of unusual gifts, home wares, bespoke jewellery, furniture and local crafts.
  • There are award winning local food suppliers, shops selling fashionable clothing, an extensive antique and garden centre and even an auction house! With a wide variety of places to eat and drink - The Cawdor Arms Hotel is the place to be seen over morning coffee and Sunday papers!

Gin Haus Deli

  • Welsh artisan bread, cheeses, and charcuterie can be found in abundance here. Call in for lunch or picnic supplies. The cakes are to die for and pizza nights need a table reservation for sure. Join the locals but be quick - tables are always in short supply. G & T anyone?

Heavenly Exquisite Desserts, Llandeilo

  • The artisan-made cakes and chocolates made here are an amazing sight and taste even better. No visit to the market town of Llandeilo is complete without a hand-made chocolate treat, scrumptious cake or delicious ice-cream from this award winning chocolatier on Rhosmaen Street.

Dinefwr Park and Castle, Llandeilo

  • Visit Dinefwr Park and Castle - explore the romantic castle ruins of Dinefwr, home to the princes of Deheubarth, and then ramble through the restored parkland among giant ancient trees. Then restore your flagging energy levels with delicious home cooked delicacies at the tea rooms. It is a great day out for all the family.

Newton House National Trust, Llandeilo & Historic White Cattle

  • This is a beautiful manor house with romantic formal gardens dating back to 1660. Re-live Edwardian life below stairs in Newton House where there are innovative and changing exhibitions as well as a permanent presentation which depicts the house during the war years, 1940 to 1945, when it was used as a hospital.
  • Handsome historic white cattle still graze the surrounding grass lands as they have done since medieval times.

Gwili Railway, Bronwydd Arms Station
