The cottage was exactly as I expected from the photos on the website. Beautifully clean & so well equipped. Super break for the family away from the busy life we usually live.

Thank you for your review, delighted that you had a nice stay.
This is a beautifully decorated well equipped cottage in a stunning location. The views out to sea, overlooking the mouth of the estuary to Milford Haven and Pembroke are alone worth staying at the cottage. This included the wildlife and the large boats coming and going. We observed two dozen gannets diving for fish and every evening thousands of Max Shearwaters flying back to Skomer and Skokholm. The views the other way into the countryside are good too - especially with sunsets over Skokholm and Skomer. The rooms are great and the ensuite shower very nice indeed.

Thank you for your 5 star review.
If you've ever visited a holiday cottage before, you most likely have seen a guestbook in the property for guests to leave a review for others when they arrive. Each of the following comments was lovingly left by people just like you in the guestbook left at Lighthouse Keep.
Wonderful cottage and amazing location. We have loved every minute of our stay here and can not believe it is time to go home. We have loved the coastal walks and peace and quiet. We have watched the ships go by and saw in the new decade sitting in the hot tub with a glass of Champagne. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday.
We have had a fabulous week at LIghthouse Keep, it really has been a Christmas to remember. Christmas morning in the hot tub with the sun shining and no wind, this will be a long lasting memory for us. We have enjoyed dog walks on the coastal path, splashing in rock pools on Marlows Sands and a hearty hot meal at the Griffin Inn in Dale. The cottage itself is beautiful, cosy and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything from doggy treats to Christmas decorations. Thank you for a wonderful stay, the week has just flown by. We would love to come back to see the Puffins.
The cottage is by far the best we have stayed in. It is in a wonderful location, with beautiful places to visit nearby. The cottage itself is very clean and the attention to detail to everything in the cottage is just very impressive. We should have stayed for longer! Thank you very much for making our stay the best it can be.
Had a fantastic week in this lovely cottage. Location & weather, great. Can't think of anywhere better to celebrate a big birthday than here with family. We walked 60 miles of the Coastal Path, which is beautiful. Had lovely meals in The Griffin Inn & Coco's Bistro in Dale. The rib boat trip around Skomer & Skokholm was the highlight of the week!
What a wonderful place to stay... the stuff of marvellous family memories. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness is second to none. Pembrokeshire itself also exceeded our expectations. Loved Marloes Beach, Broad Haven, Newgale (massive) and the world-class Baratunde. all within easy reach. The children also had great fun at Bluestone's Blue Lagoon. One week was just not long enough! See you again soon, Clare, Beaux & Roux. Buddha & Murphy (Bulldogs)

History of st. Anne's Lighthouse.
Milford Haven has long been recognised by merchants and shipowners as one of Britain's finest deep water harbours; today, large fleets of trawlers and oil tankers gather in the anchorage. Dangerous reefs lie just below the surface of the approach to this famous port, almost in mid channel and in two groups through which shipping must pass.
One of the greatest dangers the dreaded Crow Rock and Toes lying off Linney Head lies some seven miles south-east of St. Ann's Head, which has claimed many more vessels than the reefs within the harbour. Today, two usable channels are marked clearly by sets of leading lights, all vital to safe navigation.
On 15 March 1712 a patent was granted to Trinity House to build a lighthouse at St. Ann's Head. Trinity House in turn as was its policy at the time leased it to the owner of the land, Joseph Allen, who agreed to build two lighthouses and keep them in good repair. The terms of the lease were for 99 years at an annual rent of 10; to help maintain the lights, Allen was permitted to collect dues from the shipmasters at Milford Haven amounting to one penny per ton of cargo on British vessels and two pence on foreign vessels. Allen established two towers near the old disused lighthouse and lit coal fires on them in June 1714.
Robert Stevenson visited the station in 1801 and describes them as leading lights guiding vessels clear of the Crow Rock off Linney Head and that:-
The light is from Argand burners with parabolic silvered copper reflectors each twenty and a half inches in diameter. In the one lantern there are 16 reflectors and in the other 11 and though they are only about one hundred paces distant from each other there is a distinct keeper at each lantern, so that they are in the most complete state of cleanliness and good order.
St. Ann's Head Lighthouse was automated and de-manned in 1998.
