Beautiful cottage - really well thought out and furnished with quality things. We've had a great week exploring a lovely area. A travel cot would be a great addition.

Cheryl & David, Jean & Mike

One of the best holiday homes we have experienced in the UK. Great location for exploring Pembrokeshire. Loved the sun trap for late Sept/Oct sun worship!

Anne & Simon

Recommend Cliff Walk (left at sea) to Precipe Bay (good swimming, kestrels and choughs). With very old mum (93) who found house fantastic, as did we. Excellent location. Great Hols!

Manorbier beach, village and castle

  • Manorbier's beautiful beach and 12th century romantic castle are within an easy walk. Sheltered by two cliffs and overlooked by the castle and Norman church, the beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming and surfing. There is a pretty freshwater stream that runs to the sea and there are many fascinating rock pools with their marine worlds to investigate.
  • Within a 5 minute walk there is a friendly local' - The Castle Inn - (good bar food), an excellent well stocked General Store/Post Office, the popular Beach Break cafe (delicious home cooked treats), the Castlemead Hotel serving afternoon tea and evening meals and the unique cafe in the former guard's room at Manorbier Castle - there is also a well-preserved late mediaeval dovecote too!
  • Why not leave your car at home and take the train to Manorbier (which is also on a public bus route) via Arriva Trains West Wales picturesque branch line, which meanders through the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside before arriving at its destination.
  • There is also a Garden Centre by the station with cafe (good Sunday lunches as well as light meals & lovely home made cakes) as well as a wide variety of plants, pots etc., to choose from.
  • During the mid 20th century Manorbier was a popular haunt of the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw and author Virginia Woolf, and the Castle was the birthplace of Gerald of Wales - cleric, traveller, crusader, and medieval politician - he described Manorbier as the pleasantest place in all of Wales'. Various events are staged in the Castle grounds throughout the year and have included fairs, theatre, opera and Sunday afternoon live jazz (July & August).

Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

  • Take a walk along the cliff top Coastal Path with fabulous views of the beach, Castle, Church and the Pembrokeshire countryside as it runs eastward to Tenby and westward to secluded Swanlake Bay and Freshwater East. Close to Manorbier, alongside the Coastal Path is The King's Quoit' a striking stone cromlech, which dates from around 3000 BC.

  • This ever popular Georgian resort has 5 glorious sandy beaches, a picturesque harbour, shops, restaurants and pubs. Tenby Museum hosts regular art exhibitions and a glimpse into life down on the seashore and a visit to the Tudor Merchants House (National Trust) takes you on a trip back in time and life long ago.
  • Seal Safari's sail from the harbour to spot Atlantic Grey Seals lounging on the rocks as well as the enormous variety of seabirds which breed on the cliffs during summertime.
  • Located on the lower ground floor of the Atlantic Hotel on The Esplanade overlooking Tenby's South Beach the Salt Cellar is an award winning coastal restaurant, bar and terrace run by a bunch of talented friends for you and your friends and family to enjoy. Their motto is Great food, Great service, Great Times"! Tasty food and friendly service is at the heart of our restaurant .

The Overhang, Tenby

  • Not for the faint hearted but suitable for adrenaline junkies of all ages. Pit your wits against the indoor climbing wall with expert tuition on hand to help you. Outdoor rock climbing sessions are available too.

Caldey Island

  • Take the boat to Caldey Island with its Cistercian Monastery, visit the tiny ancient chapel and treat yourself to the famous chocolate made by the monks or the romantic lavender perfume. Priory Beach is perhaps one of Pembrokeshire's finest - a unique charming atmosphere of historic timelessness.

  • Between Stackpole & Broad Haven South (NT) exotic Barafundle is one of Pembrokeshire's most stunning beaches. Accessed only via a 1 km path from the car park at Stackpole Quay (NT) and then a steep cliff path that meanders down to this isolated golden sandy beach lapped by clear blue seas - sheltered bathing and a truly relaxing spot for a day on the beach. Perhaps treat yourself at the National Trust Tea Rooms at Stackpole Quay - delicious homemade cakes and lunches.

Bosherston Lily Ponds and Broad Haven South (NT)

  • Ye Olde Worlde Tea Room in the village of Bosherston serves home made refreshments on the lawn - the menu has not changed for more than 50 years - the cheese on toast is a delight!
  • Stroll through the Lily Ponds - a stunning sight in early summer - and on to Broad Haven South Beach, a wide sandy bay with soft sand backed by dunes with a stream tumbling out of the Lily Ponds - an artists paradise.
  • St Govans Chapel, the most picturesque tiny 6th century hermits chapel nestles in the rocks on the Coast Path - count the steps down and up again - legend has it that the number is never the same!

Family days out

  • Enjoy days out at Oakwood Park, Folly Farm Adventure Park, Manor Wildlife Park, Heatherton Activity Theme Park with its Go-Karting experience and the Dinosaur Park with its very life-like models!

Tenby & Trefloyne Golf Courses

  • Both courses are within a short drive - Tenby is a classic links course renowned for its natural rolling terrain, superb fast, true greens and spectacular sea views and Trefloyne is a parkland course (open to non-members) set in a landscape of beautiful mixed woodlands - the terraced bar and orangery serves excellent locally sourced meals and is a truly relaxing spot to sit, drink and dine at the end of the day!

Carew Castle & Pembroke Castle

  • Do visit Carew Castle with its restored working tidal mill and the magnificent medieval Castle at Pembroke (birthplace of Henry VII) with its mill pond - regular events such as historic enactments, falconry displays and music festivals are held in the grounds. There is a very good antique centre in the town as well as The Corn Store, a unique shop stocking all sorts of unusual quality furniture, lamps, rugs etc., as well as a delightful cafe overlooking the river.

Days Out

  • Britain's tiniest city of St Davids with characterful shops, galleries, cafes, pubs, restaurants and magnificent Cathedral is well worth a visit. Complete your day out with a few hours on glorious Whitesands Bay just a further mile and a half drive away.

Bird Islands

  • Boat trips leave from Martins Haven on Marloes Peninsula for Skomer Island and from St Justinians near St Davids for Ramsey Island. Expect to see spectacular coastal scenery and a wealth of seabirds, seals and occasionally dolphins.

Holiday bungalow in the coastal village of Manorbier close to the beach, cafe, pub, hotel restaurant and ancient castle.
