The house was nice inside.. but the outside garden was unkept and weeded and the lawn had not been mowed.... so it looked nothing like the pictures on the website we didnt recognise the house!

Thank you for your review, we are sorry that there were issues with the garden, your comments and feedback have been passed to the owner.

From the Owner:- Terribly sorry that you felt this way. I agree that the grass wasn’t cut but there were a reason for it. It’s been so dry and the lawn was already yellow so we didn’t see the point in cutting it. Cutting it again would just burn it even more. And yes there were a few weeds in the patio, which are now all gone. Sorry we didn’t manage to get rid of all of them before your stay. Unfortunately when it’s hot and sunny it’s hard to keep all pots, tubs and hanging baskets watered and looking fresh, but we do our best. We don’t want to impose on our visitors every evening by coming round and watering the plants.

Really good centrally placed cottage for touring northern Pembrokeshire. Lots of room for 2 people, willingly accepted our dog.

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Yr Hen Gof and that you made the most of its central location for exploring all that North Pembrokeshire has to offer.

Spacious property in good location, off road parking, within easy walk of friendly public house serving good food and dog friendly. Noisy fridge mentioned in two previous reviews 18/08/18 and 04/11/18, the fridge is extremely noisy and constantly 24 hours a day, can hear the fridge noise in the bedroom on a night even with the door closed. Sleeping in the loft bedroom on the mezzanine must be impossible not only would you have to endure the constant noise of the fridge but also the velux roof window does not have a blind to block out the moon/sun light also no curtains at the kitchen/dining room windows to prevent light reaching the loft bedroom. The downstairs bedroom window opens into the sunroom - the bedroom would benefit from blackout or lined curtains on a proper curtain rail - at the moment as soon as the sun rises the sun room is filled with light which in turn makes the bedroom light - ok for early rises ! Lovely walking area, coastal path from nearby Abercastle to Porthgran and the beautiful blue lagoon.Enjoyed visiting St David's, walks around St David's head and Dinas Head and pretty Tenby.

From the owner:- I’m really sorry that you have had a bad experience in our cottage. As I said when you arrived please, don’t hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can help with or anything you wonder about. If you asked about the blind we could have showed you how it works because there actually is one there. You can choose if you want it half down, 3/4 down or all the way down. We have had problems with the fridge and had someone out to fix it, twice. That’s why no mentioning of the fridge since last year. Again, if you had let us know there was a problem we could have done something about it. When I went in to the cottage after you left I did notice the noisy fridge and called someone out. The problem couldn’t be fixed this time so we bought a new one. As I said we could have sorted this if you had just told us. The downstairs bedroom is a light room and we have had many positive comments on how nice it is to wake up there. It’s been like that for 19 years and we have never had any bad comments on it before. Quality cottages pictures on their website are very accurate, it shows clearly that there are no curtain in the kitchen.

Really great place would definitely go back. The only two negatives are very noisy fridge (kids said it disrupted their sleep), and a lot of cobwebs. Otherwise it would be 5*. A bottle of wine on arrival was a very nice touch.

Breathtaking cottage. My wife, 2 year old daughter and I had a great week, exploring the local surroundings.Yr Hen Gof is a perfect base, only a few miles from all the best beaches and coves.(Poppit Sands is a must if you have children it is stunning) The local pub which is a stones throw away from the cottage (Farmers Arrms) is well worth a visit for food and drinks. There was a very welcome bottle of wine, and I also bought some fresh eggs from Anthony and Tina, my daughter loved talking to their chickens, cat and also the new arrival the duck. This is quite simply a great cottage in a beautiful village its a must if you are going to Pembrokeshire.
