About The Area

Preseli Hills
  • The Preseli Mountains, or Preseli Hills, rise out of the landscape to 536m in the northern half of Pembrokeshire and are in complete contrast to the relative lowlands of the south.
  •  The landscape is wild moorland, heath and grassland and is home to a wide range of plants and invertebrates some of them quite rare. The hills are the ideal location for some great walking away from the coastline.
  •  For the best views in Pembrokeshire, pull on your sturdy shoes and take the short walk to Foel Eryr where the 360 degree panorama leads the eye across the sea to Ireland and Snowdonia, if it’s a clear day
  • .For a longer stroll right across the spine of the Preseli Hills try The Golden Road, 8 miles, this ancient track follows a route that is said to date back to the Neolithic period, 5,000 years ago and the main route for travellers in prehistory to and from Ireland.
  • Along the way, apart from the breathtaking views, there are prehistoric remains, burial cairns dating back to the bronze age, Iron Age hill forts. There’s an arrangement of stones in the shape of an eye known as Beddarthur and legend has it that it’s the resting place of King Arthur. Who knows?
Bluestone Brewery
  • Bluestone Brewing is a family run brewery tucked away in rural North Pembrokeshire. Ales are brewed in the rough and rocky hills of the Bluestone mountains. Throughout the year several open air events are held with live music, food and entertainment.
Castell Henllys Iron Age Village 
  • Set within 30 acres of beautiful woodland and river meadows in the heart of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, a short drive from Fountain Hill, as well as being home to expertly recreated Iron Age roundhouses built exactly where they would have stood more than 2,000 years ago, the natural surroundings are teeming with wildlife, such as otters, swallows and bats. Dogs on leads are welcome, not inside the cafe, but on the verandah and outside seating areas. Although the roundhouses are the main attraction, Castell Henllys also has a Visitor Centre, which includes a shop and cafe, with interactive exhibitions, children’s play area and maze and riverside picnic site.
Fishguard And Day Boat Trips to Ireland
  • Situated in the midst of outstanding beauty that blends the allure of sea, towering cliffs, the Preseli Hills, historic churches, ancient standing stones, ideal for gentle and challenging walks, surrounded by the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park. Galleries, gift and antique shops, with weekly market, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
  • Sailing, kayaking, coasteering, hiking on sunny days from Goodwick and on rainy days, swimming pool, cinema, music festivals and a visit to the Last Invasion Tapestry, which marks the 1797 invasion by Napolean’s French troops defeated by local militia at the Battle of Fishguard. It’s said to rival the Bayeux Tapestry.

Tresaith Beach & Coastal Walk
  • Dogs are welcome on Tresaith Beach all year round but in restricted areas only during summer months. The newly created Cardigan Heritage Coastal Walk runs past the end of the rear garden as it wends is way up to the clifftops. Pets welcome.
  • Tresaith beach with its slipway is ideal for sailors, surfers, swimmers and rock poolers! There is a small café and The Ship Inn - a fabulous spot for al-fresco dining and watching the sunsets over the bay.
Penbryn Beach (NT)
  • Spot the resident Bottlenose Dolphins, walk barefoot at low tide to Penbryn Beach, (NT) once very popular with smugglers, or take a cliff top walk along the Coastal Path
Aberporth Coastal Village & Mwnt Cove (NT)
  • Aberporth, a busy seaside village with 2 beaches, shops, pubs and restaurants and secluded Mwnt Cove (NT) are both a short drive away from this holiday home - 3 minutes walk from Tresaith Beach
  • Do visit Cardigan, the bustling county town which has a high street lined with Georgian shops, restaurants, supermarkets, theatre and cinema.
Explore the Teifi Valley
  • Follow the meandering Teifi Valley to visit pretty market towns full of character and try a spot of fishing. Visit castles at Cardigan, Cilgerran and Newcastle Emlyn. Discover the National Coracle Centre at Cenarth and visit the Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran.
    Cenarth Riverside Village
    • The village of Cenarth is well worth a trip out from your West Wales holiday house in Tresaith. The beautiful river and waterfalls tumble through the centre passing under an ancient multi-arched (most photogenic) stone bridge. There is an attractive riverside walk, a few interesting shops, places to eat and the National Coracle Centre is located here.

      • Do stroll along the Dylan Thomas Trail in New Quay. The easy 3-mile walk takes in Dylan's favourite haunts from when he lived in the pretty seaside village.
      Y Felin Water Mill, St Dogmaels & Cilwendeg Shell House
      • Visit one of the last working water mills in Wales. It produces traditional stoneground wholemeal flour (popular with diabetics for its low GI content) some of which is used to bake the scones and cakes served in the mill's tea shop.
      • Cilwendeg Shell House is a delight. An ornamental grotto built in the late 1820's for Morgan Jones the Younger.
      Welsh Stick Chairs & Vernacular Furniture, Mydroilyn
      • Anyone interested in historical furniture will find this shop fascinating there is a fine collection of primitive Welsh country furniture mostly of 18th-century oak.
      Ceredigion Coastal Path Pets welcome
