Located just 200 yards from the finest array of pubs, restaurants and cafes, yet in a quiet location with fabulous gardens and a sheltered terrace to enjoy the fresh air. It's also a 10-minute walk to both the sea and Carningli Mountain.

The Tides sells fabulous pastries and fresh fish, Blas has wonderful Welsh produce and cakes and the local butchers are renowned throughout the county. On Monday (Mar - Dec) there is a street market that sells local produce and products... from organic veg, sourdough bread, and fresh fish, it's not to be missed.   
  • The kitchen provides a true place to plan and prepare with an additional fridge for your favourite tipples to augment the fridge/freezer, brand new appliances, induction hob, built-in oven, plus built-in microwave, dishwasher, and all your home essentials.
  • Beside the kitchen is a utility room with home essentials, including a washing machine and tumble drier and sink, which means you can separate all of your holiday paraphernalia, and beachwear.
  • The property also features a bespoke downstairs cloakroom with a wonderful ambience. We would not normally mention a cloakroom but this really has to be seen! A shoe cupboard is located on the right-hand side of the door.
  • The stylish four bedrooms are situated on the upper floor on either side of the house, so ideal for two families to share. All exuding true luxury, comfort and character. Again some of the most luxurious and beautifully presented bathrooms in our collection. All have heated towel rails, shaver points and bespoke showers, with large mirrors and fabulous lighting.
  • At the top of the stairs is the master bedroom with a sleek ensuite, walk-in shower and designer charm. 
  • Opposite, is the other kingsize double, which is next door to the family shower room with a large shower.

Beautifully decorated, fitted and equipped. Lots of space, good central location. Only issue for a larger party was the parking. Thus is not a criticism as it was mentioned in the details. Would highly recommend.Message for the owners: the plaster is blown on one of the walls in the right hand sitting room. It is likely to get worse and some will fall off.

Major House was a wonderful base from which to explore a fantastic coastline. Aside from the beautiful interiors, the kitchen was very well-equipped. We felt able to relax immediately on arrival. Thanks for a lovely break.

Wonderfully clean and the facilities were first class including an excellently equipped kitchen and the owners had thought of everything. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and the location is located right in the centre so extremely convenient. The only slight downside and appreciate it is beyond the control of the owners is there is just the one parking space but knew that before arrival so no big deal.

We had a fantastic stay at Major house. It been recently refurbished, has been beautifully decorated, and the amenities are top-notch (including a Miele washing machine for example). The decor is really tasteful and the house is super cosy and comfortable. They are 4 double/ twin bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom. The kitchen is huge and has all utensils and pots and pans that one could desire. The dining room is in a conservatory so gets lots of sun. There is also a barbecue on the patio and a charming garden. The sheets, towels, blankets etc. were all of superb quality. And importantly, in this COVID pandemic, everything was spotless. It is situated minutes from shops and restaurants, and 15 minutes walk from the beach. There is lots to explore in the area (St Davids is about 35 minutes drive).

Nearby Beaches:

The Parrog provides a delightful stretch of coastline. The Coast Path twists and turns its way round to the old lifeboat station, sometimes on the beach, at times on the road, and at one point crosses a fantastic causeway built of slates in a herringbone pattern.

Cwm yr Eglwys is a picturesque cove a short drive away. Overlooked by the remains of St Bynach's 12th-century church, the sheltered sand and shingle beach is a great family favourite.

Eating out in Newport:

Within walking distance of Tan Y Bryn are many highly recommended restaurants and cafes. Newport has been described as the gourmet capital of Pembrokeshire.

Llys Meddyg Georgian townhouse restaurant and cellar bar which serves the finest dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.

Cafe Blas at Fronlas good unpretentious food in a welcoming and cosy dog-friendly cafe.

Poppit Rocket Bus Service & Preseli Walkers Bus

Forget the car and take a ride on the Poppit Rocket - a daily coastal bus service running between Fishguard and Cardigan or the Preseli Walkers Bus to explore the magical Preseli Hills, dotted with prehistoric remains, which rise behind Newport Castell Henllys.

Castell Henllys Iron Age Village

Set within 30 acres of beautiful woodland and river meadows in the heart of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, 5 miles from Bank Terrace. As well as being home to expertly recreated Iron Age roundhouses built exactly where they would have stood more than 2,000 years ago, the natural surroundings are teeming with wildlife, such as otters, swallows, and bats. Dogs on leads are welcome, not inside the cafe, but on the verandah and outside seating areas. Although the roundhouses are the main attraction, Castell Henllys also has a Visitor Centre, which includes a shop and cafe, with interactive exhibitions, a children's play area, and a maze and riverside picnic site.

Fishguard And Day Boat Trips to Ireland

Situated in the midst of outstanding beauty that blends the allure of the sea, towering cliffs, the Preseli Hills, historic churches, ancient standing stones, ideal for gentle and challenging walks, surrounded by the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park. Galleries, gift, and antique shops, with weekly markets, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.

Sailing, kayaking, coasteering, hiking on sunny days from Goodwick and on rainy days, swimming pool, cinema, music festivals, and a visit to the Last Invasion Tapestry, which marks the 1797 invasion by Napolean's French troops defeated by local militia at the Battle of Fishguard. It's said to rival the Bayeux Tapestry.

The exceptionally beautiful, deeply wooded Gwaun Valley is highly regarded by geologists. It can be enjoyed at Llanychaer. Do drive on to Rosebush and enjoy a meal in the award-winning historic Tafarn Sinc. A good day out for guests staying in this luxury holiday cottage in Newport Pembrokeshire.

Walk Dinas Island Coastal Path

The Dinas Island walk shows the Pembrokeshire coast at its best. Rugged and beautiful. Start at Pwllgwaelod, walk around the peninsula then through the pretty seaside village of Cwm yr Eglwys and back to Pwllgwaelod. Enjoy a drink & meal at the Old Sailors said to have been in business for 500 years!.

Melin Tregwynt Woollen Mill

Well worth a visit, just a short drive from Newport, in Castle Morris, a working mill with excellent cafe and shop. This mill has been on this site since the 17th century when local farmers would bring their fleeces to be spun into yarn and woven into splendid quality Welsh wool blankets.

St.Davids & The Cathedral

A colourful coastline with heaps of history, the St. Davids peninsula has been a cultural hotspot for thousands of years. Discover the area's ancestry from Celtic life to Wales' patron saint. The magnificent cathedral is one of the jewels in Pembrokeshire's crown, together with the neighbouring Bishop's Palace.
