About Plas Pontfaen

Pembrokeshire Manor House for reunions - a charming property in the heart of the Gwaun Valley

  • This Gwaun Valley manor house stands on a knoll with the exquisite church of St Brynach on the opposite side of the curving entrance drive. Plas Pontfaen exudes a lazy charm - however it does not enjoy all the 'ease of living' features found in more modern properties.
  • Harking back to a past age, this delightful house in the Gwaun Valley has a charming rustic interior with interesting architectural features and furnishings together with full bookcases, family, school and army photographs - a reminder of country house living as it used to be.
  • Ideal for children and dogs to enjoy it's private fields, woodlands and streams, the Gwaun Valley's beautiful hills and countryside and Pembrokeshire's fine, safe, sandy beaches are within easy driving distance.
  • The kind and helpful caretakers reside in an adjacent, but totally independent wing of the Manor House to the left of the photo.
  • Set in extensive grounds of almost 1 acre in the long and winding Gwaun Valley with beautiful hanging woodlands - a special and magical place ideal for children, pet dogs and family reunions.
  • Fine, safe and sandy beaches are within easy driving distance.

We enjoyed our stay but there are a few things which should be improved:- supply towels and tea towels as it is inconvenient to have to take your own, particularly if coming from abroad.- The attic room is horrible because of the fly infestation. Every morning the beds have dead flies by on them. - More plates and dishes are needed.

Good property, but was not happy with the fact that although the house slept 11 people, there were not 11 comfortable seats in the lounge. All lights should work and not have notices saying 'not working ' Caretakers in the adjoining property were helpful. x

Wonderfully spacious, just right for 3 generations to enjoy a family holiday. This is clearly a grand house with considerable history that retains it character beautifully. The kitchen, wrapped around the dinning room, could have been a bit more functional, but I soon got used to it. Very child-friendly garden. The situation is perfect, hidden in my favourite deep woodland valley but within very easy reach of beaches and local attractions.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Lots of sun and no rain. Plas Ponfaen is really charming. We will be back, probably for longer. We had an excellent supper at the Golden Lion in Newport.
