The Pembrokeshire Coast Path
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs both east and west from Porthgain. The dramatic coastal scenery, flower and wildlife are what make Pembrokeshire one of the world’s best holiday destinations (National Geographic voted Pembrokeshire the 2nd best coastal destination in the world) splendid at all times of year, but the explosion of colour with the spring flowers is something to behold!
Treath Llyfyn Beach near by
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path to the west brings you to Traeth Llyfyn beach - a wide expanse of sand great for family beach days, picnics and games of rounders (with a long staircase down to the sand).
Abereiddi and the Blue Lagoon
Neighbouring Abereiddi, has pretty colour washed former miners cottages, black sandy beach where dogs are welcome all year round and the remarkable Blue Lagoon. Popular with families, the sand which is visible at low tide, also contains a high concentration of fossils and is a draw for fossil hunters.
St Davids City and St Davids Peninsula Pembrokeshire
St Davids is Britain’s smallest city. It’s lovely medieval cathedral and ancient Bishops’ Palace form the historic centre but it also boasts a number of modern amenities - banks, post office, supermarket, filling station, chemist, doctor and vet – as well as a good range of interesting shops.
Boat Trips to Ramsey Island
Book a boat trip to Ramsey Island and experience the thrill of a jet boat trip across Ramsey Sound, through the infamous Bitches, and then the contrast of moving in close to the cliffs to see the wildlife at close range. For the less adventurous there are conventional boats which both circuit and land on the island.
Whitesands Beach
Whitesands Beach, just six miles from TyCoch, is one of the most stunning locations on the Pembrokeshire coast. The wide sandy beach has a Blue Flag award and lifeguard cover in the summer make it popular for swimming, surfing and water sports of all sorts with surf hire and surfing lessons available at the beach. The beach is a lovely place to walk and between October and the end of April your dog can come too. When you have had fun on the beach visit the Whitesands Cafe for tasty snacks and refreshments.
Fishguard Town and Pretty Lower Fishguard Harbour
Scolton Manor and County Museum
Just a little further afield, enjoy a trip back to Victorian times at the Scolton Manor and Countty Museum. The house has been sympathetically restored to give a taste of Victorian society and style and together with 60 acres of parkland where your well behaved dog on a lead is welcome and a cafe providing delicious homemade cakes, this is a great family day out.
The house is very well equipped and laid out with plenty of space for all. The garden table was well used. Possibly a garden recliner would be useful to enjoy the lovely garden. Very well equipped all round. The service has been good from start to finish and it is clear Mrs Jenkins just wants everyone to enjoy a relaxing time in her property which we have all done. Thank you. Welcoming Welsh cakes & tea service ready after a long journey. House well stashed with the things you will need for a relaxing holiday. Great location, near enough to the coast, walks and towns etc. We will think about returning in the future and will be happy to recommend Ty Coch to friends and family. The Hilton Court Gardens and Shops were a really nice find and well worth a visit. Loved Solva Woollen Mill too.
