Lovely spacious cottage in a wonderful location close to Saundersfoot with its amazing beach. Comfortable beds and lounge etc. Kitchen in need of an update but perfectly workable. Rear garden on many levels, not for elderly or young kids as high wall with a drop down to a pond. Very steep drive but you can park on road as very quiet street.
Celandyne is a tired property in need of maintenance and TLC and thorough cleaning. The kitchen was grubby, cupboards full of owners food etc and under the sink was crammed full. The ooking utensils were filthy and I resorted to buying a pan to use (even after the cleaner had done their best to revive the frying pan). The cooker hood filter was gross and looked like it had never been changed and the linen provided was full of holes! The bedding was really poor quality and only one towel provided per person. It's a good job I didn't look too closely at the actual duvets before I removed the covers at the end of our stay they looked grubby and about 15 years old. I also had to empty the vacuum cleaner before I used it.... Gross and not Covid safe. Also the headboard in the double room is not attached to the bed so fell down during the night, causing much alarm! The outside space could be lovely, however the pond was filthy and not a pleasant feature. There was no garden furniture for the lawned terrace or the decked upper level, so if you want to sit up there you need to carry a heavy metal chair up the rickety broken steps. It is such a shame that this property is not looked after. It appears the owners visit regularly as it felt like a tired home, but not a 'quality cottage'.I provided photos and did receive a small refund, but that's not really the point. I will think twice about booking again through Quality Cottages as I feel they have a responsibility to check standards of properties they manage and would definitely not recommend this property to anyone.
No photos, yes it was lovely
There was many things not happy about. Table lamp with no bulb ,tall lamp bulb blown, front door outside light not working, lights over fireplace not working, en-suite toilet seat not fixed properly, one light in kitchen not working, kitchen cupboards dirty shelf collapsed, some saucepans dirty, no grill pan, no safety for anyone as garden is high to pool

Shore Fishing at Freshwater West & East, Rock fishing off Monkston Point
Shore fishing from the rocks and beaches around Freshwater West and East is arguably some of the best in Wales. Remember to pack your fishing gear.
Monkston Point is a good place to bag bass but take care not to get cut off by the tide. A 2 lb bass takes 30 minutes in a hot oven. Just lay on a bed of fresh herbs, sliced onions & seasoning in a buttered pan, pour over 1/2 pint of white wine. Cover and cook. Serve with the remaining white wine chilled. Delicious!
Narberth nearby is a small ancient thriving market town with a ruined castle and a mixture of small interesting shops - fishmonger, butcher, grocer, ironmongers, delicatessen, wonderful cake shops, art and craft galleries, antique shops, pubs and restaurants - a great place for gift shopping!
Take a revitalising swim at Narberth's 20 m x 7 m swimming pool or relax in the delightful informal Ultra Comedia Cafe/Tapas Bar/Delicatessen - enjoy delicious produce from Wales, Spain and France. Drop-in at any time during the day - booking necessary for evening meals
