The Granary is a lovely holiday home. It is clean, comfortable and warm. I had occasion to ring Mrs Rees who was pleasant, friendly and extremely helpful. I look forward to a return visit.

Cottage is a lovely space and the sitting room is a great size for 8 people, bedding was comfy and good quality, kitchen equipment is excellent. Lovely open fire and very generous log supply. Only one stand alone shower-not great if theres 5 adults, and its not clear in details that the over bath ones dont have a screen to enable use as a shower. Some decor a bit worn considering the price of the cottage. Garden also in need of tidying and weed attention-dont mind an overgrown garden and the swings are fab but it would be nice if the patio area was weeded.

Guestbook Comments

If you've ever visited a holiday cottage before, you most likely have seen a guestbook in the property for guests to leave a review for others when they arrive. Each of the following comments was lovingly left by people just like you in the guestbook left at The Granary.

Comfortable & well-equipped cottage. Beautiful area and coast path walks. Solva & Porthgain lovely places to visit and eat. Great place to recharge the batteries.

Great to be back, love this place, peace, quiet, warmth and the ability to chill & replenish the batteries. Loved all our walks on the cliffs and the local seafood. Loved the garden and the sunsets & sunrises. Many thanks for the comfy beds too!

Lucky to get a last-minute booking for the family at this lovely house. Wood burner warmed the whole house in seconds - fab & cosy. Children loved toasting marshmallows in it! Solva 'Window on Wales' is a lovely shop for a bit of early christmas shopping. MamGu in Solva has really nice welsh cakes and cream teas. Druidston beach is a favorite of ours - easier to cross the pebbles than Newgale; both dog-friendly. Reasonably lucky with the weather this week - all of us going home with a healthy glow. Great week in a beautiful cottage. Thank you.

Another enjoyable stay - we think it's our 28th year. Tips of the year - wheelchair accessible walks alongside the harbour at Solva from the car park by the Harbour In along the right hand side of the harbour looking from the car park. Also in Little Haven up past The Swan Inn (slight incline initially but levels out) to the point with wonderful panoramic views.

Heushilwood & Ferguson families

Despite some appalling weather we thoroughly enjoyed exploring this part of Wales. Small children loved Whitesands beach and crabbing at Solva. The Shed at Porthgain has the best ever fish & chips. Blue Water boat trip round Ramsey Island very highly recommended - ages 4-72. Pembroke Castle (on a very wet day) - do take the history tour. Also enjoyed successful mackerel fishing and eating the results!

We thought The Granary exceptionally well appointed and comfortable. Loved all the hot water and children and dog loved the garden. Everything was well thought out.

Thank you from us all for providing such a comfortable and great base for our family holiday. No one got up early enough to see the otters, we were all exhausted after our activities and slept so well.

St Davids

  • Situated in peaceful agricultural countryside, in the centre of the St Davids Peninsula, The Granary is only a short drive to St Davids.
  • With its splendid cathedral dating back to the 12th Century, Bishop's Palace, cafes and local produce, there is plenty to keep you occupied in St Davids. Don't miss the country market on a Thursday between April and September. In Oriel y Parc, you will find lots of information about the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, useful maps and guidebooks as well as an art gallery and cafe.

St Davids Cathedral and Bishops' Palace

  • Investigate the magnificent medieval Cathedral and ruined Bishops' Palace dedicated to Wales's Patron Saint. The Cathedral is a busy church but also an international venue for music throughout the year; a memorable and rewarding place to visit. The Bishop's Palace will captivate your imagination (and your children's) and take you back to glories past.

Beaches, Coves & Water sports

  • Surfing, swimming, golf, fishing, riding, boat trips and the village city of St Davids all within easy driving distance of this Pembrokeshire holiday cottage.
  • There are a number of beautiful beaches and coves, many of which are dog friendly and within a 20 minute drive - Abermawr near Mathry, Traeth Llyfn near Porthgain, Abereiddi Bay and Blue Lagoon, Whitesands Bay, Porthselau, Porthlysgi Bay and Caerfai Bay, all close to St Davids, Gwadn Beach in Solva and the glorious 2 mile stretch of golden sand at Newgale..

Boat Trips

  • High adventure or a relaxing sedate cruise - you choose. Boats leave from St Justinians (tickets sold in St Davids and Solva) to see the magnificent Pembrokeshire coastline or the unforgettable bird islands. Do remember your cameras and binoculars. Look out for dolphins, porpoise, seals and seabirds.

The Shed Restaurant & The Sloop, Porthgain

  • Lovers of seafood will enjoy fresh fish caught by The Shed's owner's own fishing boat, landed and cooked within hours at this award winning fishing village restaurant.
  • In this extremely popular local inn, overlooking the village green and harbour, The Sloop serves good pub food for locals, rowers, walkers and tourists.

Twr y Felin Hotel Restaurant, St Davids

  • Gourmets will be bowled over by the outstanding food, twenty year old wines, sophisticated surroundings and gallery space, of this prestigious hotel. Blas Restaurant has two AA rosettes and serves seasonal dishes that reflect the very best of Welsh produce.

St Bride's Bay Water Taxi for Walkers

  • Solva Sailboats operate a water taxi which will take you to your chosen destination from where you can walk back along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to Solva. Possible destinations include Porth Clais, Porthmynawydd, St Justinians, Nolton Haven and Little Haven (weather dependent). Phone 01437 720972.

Solva Waterside Village

  • The pretty village of Solva nestles alongside a fiord type estuary. There is a range of places to eat and drink, a few shops and galleries and a lovely walk alongside the estuary onto the coastal path. Children will love crabbing from the harbour wall from where boat trips can be booked to view the magnificent north Pembrokeshire coast.

Coastal Bus Service

  • The Puffin Shuttle calls in at every sleepy village, tiny harbour, secret cove and magnificent beach along the Pembrokeshire coast between St Davids and Marloes. The Strumble Shuttle operates between St Davids and Newport. An ideal service for families and walkers.

Family Activities

  • You will find guided walks, making & painting your own pottery, museums to explore, a multitude of water sports and other challenging physical pursuits all in the Quality Cottages local guide. Enjoy days out at Hangar 5 Trampolines, Scolton Manor Country Park and Museum, West Wales Karting at Withybush, award winning Folly Farm at Begelly, Anna Ryder Richardson's Wildlife Park at St Florence, The Tudor Merchant's House in Tenby, Blue Lagoon Water Park near Canaston Bridge, The Dinosaur Park at Great Wedlock and Heatherton Sports Park near Tenby.
