Another wonderful break in Cathedral Cottage. We love everything about St.Davids and enjoyed ourselves again. Thank you very much for the Prosecco and the birthday card - lovely thought. Until next time…

We've enjoyed our week in Seren Cottage and appreciated all the little touches. One of the best cottages we've stayed in over the last 20 years. St.Davids is charming and we've loved the walks and beaches and the cottage garden will all day sun.

Here to celebrate St.Davids Day. Cathedral Cottage is probably the most immaculate we have ever had the pleasure of staying in! Thank you.

The cottage is well equipped and in a great location overlooking the cathedral But no crisp cotton white bed linen. Needs replacing with better quality. Bath towels not very big and also not a good quality. Bath mat definitely needs to be replaced

J Taylor - 23rd November 2018

Well equipped. Clean and tidy. Love the beds.

Spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Well furnished with lots of character. Good location and a lovely garden. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. A couple of minor things: the duvet on the bed was quite heavy for this time of year which made if very warm during the night. A light top sheet would have helped. Bathroom towels a little disappointing compared to the overall quality of everything else provided.

Judith Lee - 22nd June 2018

A lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Very convenient location, close to restaurants, shops, and the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Property Description

A welcoming St Davids holiday cottage suitable for couples and families alike

  • Recently lovingly updated, pet friendly Cathedral Cottage is one of four quaint homes in a terrace in the heart of historic St.Davids - Britain's smallest city with shops, restaurants and bars. Enjoy views from the back of the property out towards St.Davids Cathedral.
  • The open plan dining room/living room with its log burning stove and comfortable sofas are the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the local sights. The dining room seats 4 with its stylish Melin Tregwynt seats, and if you've got a laptop this is the perfect spot to decide what to do while you're away whilst you chat to whoever's in the kitchen fixing supper. The kitchen has great views out to the sunny garden and has a dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave.
  • Upstairs there is a double bedroom with beautiful views over the garden and to the Cathedral. The twin bedroom is light and cosy with its own TV. The family sized bathroom is modern with a fabulous shower above the bath.
  • The garden has 2 seating areas and captures the sun throughout the day. The sunsets are lovely and are best enjoyed with a glass of something refreshing!

About the Area

St Davids Cathedral and the Bishops' Palace

  • St Davids Cathedral, both a historical monument as well as a place of worship, was built in 1181 and has weathered the centuries with varying fortunes. Visit the refectory in the newly restored cloisters for coffee or a meal and take time to enjoy the history and atmosphere of this very special place.
  • Across the tiny river Alun is the ruined Bishops' Palace with its lovely decorated stonework, wheel window, halls and stairways. Restored sufficiently to fire the imagination of young and old, let your children play while they absorb the atmosphere of this site of medieval power and influence.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path - a walker's idyll, pet dogs welcome

  • Keen walkers will love this popular section of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St.Davids is surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery. Head out of the cottage either east of west and within 15 minutes you will be on the Coastal Path. The St Davids Peninsula is encased in a section which will take your breath away - the colours of the sea and sky, the bird and wildlife, the fantastic flora - all combine to make an experience which draws visitors back year after year.

Caerfai Beach and Whitesands Beach

  • A 15 minute walk leads to Caerfai Beach. This dog friendly beach is a family-friendly cove perfect for sandcastles and rock pooling. A short drive will take you to the Blue Flag beach at Whitesands – popular with families and surfers alike. The café serves breakfast and evening meals in the summer season or why not enjoy a takeaway and sit on the beach to see the spectacular sunsets.
Dr Beynon's Bug Farm and Grub Kitchen,St Davids Peninsula
  • Explore the fascinating world of creepy crawlies at this award winning venue. The visitor attraction includes a Tropical Bug Zoo, Bug Museum, Up Close Sessions, Arts & Crafts, Artist in Residence, Rustic Indoor Play,Gift Shop, Workshops, Walled Garden,Bug Farm Trail and the Grub Kitchen where you can even eat edible insects. There are non insect dishes too.

Coastal Shuttle Buses

  • If you would like to leave your car behind, jump onto the local coastal bus service - and travel up or down the coast.  You can leave and join the bus at will and services run the length of the coastal path.

Boat Trips to Ramsey Island from St Justinians

  • Book a boat trip whilst in St Davids around the famous bird islands - either a fast adrenalin ride or a more sedate one - but an experience not to be missed - your dogs are welcome too!
  • Enjoy mackerel fishing - a lovely way to spend an hour or so drifting on the bay as well as providing beautiful freshly caught fish for supper.

Solva Village, Pembrokeshire

  • Solva village with its quaint picturesque harbour and small beach has lots to enjoy - fish for crabs from the harbour at high tide or rock-pool and paddle on the beach at low tide or take a boat trip around the harbour.
  • 2 art galleries and a pottery to enjoy as well as a range of traditional shops including a post office/general stores (look out for the ever changing signs), cafes and pubs.
  • The Cambrian is a 16th century village pub serving great food, Trinity Quay along the harbour - homemade cakes and ice-cream and Café '35' by the river- great snacks and wonderful fish and chips!
  • The Ship Inn, a pet friendly cosy local pub with pleasant garden, serving good food in a warm and convivial atmosphere.
St Bride's Bay Water Taxi for Walkers
  • Solva Sailboats operate a water taxi which will take you to your chosen destination from where you can walk back along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to Solva. Possible destinations include Porth Clais, Porthmynawydd, St Justinians, Nolton Haven and Little Haven (weather dependent). Phone 01437 720972.

Newsurf Newgale

  • Plunge into the exhilarating surf at Newgale beach, enjoy lessons for beginners and improvers with qualified instructors from Newsurf adjacent to the beach on the west end.

  • A charming village with an attractive harbour. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was a flourishing seaport exporting slate and shale. Now it is a quaint harbour occupied with small fishing boats. Don’t miss the opportunity to buy crab fresh off the boat when the fishermen return. Have dinner in - or outdoors the Sloop Inn, and enjoy some of the finest Fish and Chips at the Shed where locally caught crab and lobster is also served.
Abereiddy and the Blue Lagoon
  • Walk along the coast path to the amazing Blue Lagoon at Aberreiddy. A former slate quarry with unnaturally blue water. Look out for the seals. Try coasteering. Simply exhilarating.

  • The town of Fishguard is an understated treasure and a busy community. Perched above the Lower town harbour with its boats and jumbled buildings, there are shops and banks, a cinema and sport centre as well as a number of places for the visitor to eat.
  • The ferry to Ireland comes in to the port at neighbouring Goodwick where passengers racing on their way to distant destinations can stop to fill up with petrol and provisions on the seafront. They would be foolish to miss the sleepy village and to take a moment to appreciate the craggy coastline and wide, boat-dotted harbour.

Family Days out in Pembrokeshire

  • Further south in the county there are theme parks galore with diversions for all the family.  Look up West Wales Karting, Hangar Five Trampolines, Oakwood Theme Park, Bluestone Water Park, Folly Farm Zoo and Heatherton for a good mix.
A Day Trip to Tenby
  • No visit to Pembrokeshire is complete without a trip to the celebrated seaside resort of Tenby with its characterful walled town, elegant candy coloured Georgian terraces, Tudor Merchant's House N.T. and five golden sandy beaches.
