About Llysgennydd (Kenneths Court)

Embrace the welcoming ambience the moment you step inside this delightful, characterful house, which retains many original features, just a short drive from the Pembrokeshire coast.

  • This striking house stands on the edge of the ancient Dowrog Common (SSSI) and is just a short drive from St Davids (village) city and beautiful Whitesands Beach.
  • There are sweeping panoramic views across the Common towards the rocky outcrops of Penberi and Carn Llidi above Whitesands - the artist Graham Sutherland's favourite view (he stayed regularly at Llysgennydd)
  • Set back from the Fishguard to St Davids road and designed by one of the last practicing architects of the Arts & Craft movement, the house has been completely refurbished and renovated, preserving its distinctive heritage within a comfortable, delightful house.
  • The spacious sitting room is designed in the style of a medieval hall with a slate floor, splendid high beamed ceiling, large log burning stove. The elm wall panelling is decorated with carved wooden figures on a former 'minstrel's gallery' and underfloor heating ensures that it is a truly warm and restful space.
  • In the older part of the house, the 'parlour' is a cosy room with comfortable sofas, a large stone fireplace and low beamed ceiling.
  • Set on the first floor the unfettered bedrooms, furnished in traditional comfortable style, promise a good night's sleep after a day in the Pembrokeshire air.
  • On sunny days relax in the spacious garden soaking up the beauty of the surrounding area. A large lawned area, perfect for ball games, where children will love to roam and play.
  • The surrounding area is steeped in history and Welsh culture, offering lots of activities and fun days out. Do visit St. David's magnificent cathedral, stunning local beaches, surfing, boat trips, walking, cycling and picturesque coastal villages waiting to be explored.

Whitesands Beach & Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

  • Whitesands fabulous Blue Flag Beach, popular with surfers, sand castle builders, kite flyers and sun worshippers is within a 5 minute drive.
  • The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, with its cliffs carpeted with wild flowers and alive with colonies of sea birds in early summer, is a walkers, photographers and naturalists delight.

Marine & Bird Life Boat Trips

  • An exciting boat trip on the 'Venture Jet' will take you out to sea on a thrilling ride to catch glimpses of seals, porpoises and fascinating bird life.
  • A day out to to Ramsey Island via a more sedate boat trip on Voyages of Discovery gives an insight into life for birds, people and animals on a rugged offshore island.

St Davids Cathedral

  • St Davids is the United Kingdom's smallest city, earning that status thanks to the magnificent medieval cathedral. Set in the valley below the town and placed to be out of sight of marauding viking invaders, it is a venue for services and concerts throughout the year.
  • The highlight of these is the Internationally acclaimed St Davids Cathedral Music Festival held in May and perhaps the most charming is the candlelit Christmas Carol Service.

Graham Sutherland Collection, St Davids

  • The stylish Oriel y Parc Gallery is the local Tourist Information Office run by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It houses the Graham Sutherland Collection and has a rotating exhibition by local Artists in Residence and also an independently run cafe offering delicious meals and snacks in convivial surroundings.

St Davids

  • Browse the various interesting shops, places to eat and galleries on offer in the town or visit the weekly Farmers' Market on the Square and stock up with delicious local produce.

St Non's Chapel, Porth Clais and Caerfai

  • The coastline is scattered with little inlets and coves. Visit the tiny sheltered harbour at Porth Clais for fishing, sailing, canoeing or just enjoying the activity.
  • Carefai Bay is a beautiful sandy cove and good for swimming and snorkelling and just enjoying the sandy beach.
  • St Non's Chapel and Holy Well overlook the rocky coastline of St Bride's Bay - a most idyllic and spiritual part of Pembrokeshire and thought to be the birthplace of St David.

Dr Beynon's Bug Farm & Grub Kitchen

  • Explore the fascinating world of insects with Entymologist Dr Beynon at her family farm on the St Davids Peninsula. This captivating attraction with plenty of real bugs, a gallery and restaurant serving some dishes made with insects is also a serious scientific research centre.

Solva

  • A pretty waterside village with a picturesque harbour and a variety of places to eat and drink.
  • The Solva Woollen Mill at Middle Mill has a lovely range of woollen goods and specialises in flat weave carpets and striking stair runners. The rugs for Llwynywormwood, Prince Charles's Welsh residence, were made here.

St Bride's Bay Water Taxi for Walkers

  • Solva Sailboats operate a water taxi which will take you to your chosen destination from where you can walk back along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to Solva.
