Stylishly and thoughtfully decorated house with everything you could possibly need. Also very clean (it even smells wonderful!). Walled/fenced back garden so the dog was safe. Cannot fault our holiday!

From the start to the finish of our wonderful week in St David's, we felt at home! Such a bright and airy property, so clean and well equipped, it's impossible to see how anything could be improved upon. Seals Nook's location in this delightful little city is ideal, giving us walking access to all parts. We loved the kitchen and garden - eating on the patio at breakfast and again in the evening. The beds and linen were a delight too and the bathroom exactly what was required. Thank you to Martha for making such a perfect holiday home available to us and to Louise for her unobtrusive and efficient caretaking. We certainly plan to return.

The house is ideally situated within St. David's,close to amenities and only a couple of minutes walk to the Cathedral . Inside, the house is spotlessly clean, beautifully finished and equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay. We had a truly wonderful Christmas break - an absolute 'must return' location.

What a cottage! It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a very high standard and the location simply could not have been better. The sun room and the enclosed garden were the icing on the cake for us. We would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to friends already. Highlights in and around St Davids included eating at 'The Bishops', the Cathedral, Ramsey Island and the whale-watching trip.......we saw whales and dolphins!

About the Area

If you would like more information on the local area, please call us on 01348 837871 to speak to one of our friendly team.

The City of St Davids

  • With its splendid cathedral dating back to the 12th Century, Bishop's Palace, cafes and local produce, there is plenty to keep you occupied for days of browsing. Don't miss the country market on a Thursday between April and September.
  • In Oriel y Parc, you will find lots of information about the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, useful maps and guidebooks as well as an art gallery and cafe.
  • There is a well-stocked supermarket, butchers, greengrocers, as well as a post office, ice cream and chocolate shop and two banks.

St Davids Cathedral and the Bishops' Palace

  • Tucked away in the valley below the city' is the wonderful medieval Cathedral, dating back to 1181 - take time to enjoy the history and atmosphere of this very special place. Guide books and volunteer stewards are at hand to help you understand some of its differing fortunes across the centuries. Perhaps have coffee or a meal in the new refectory.
  • Across the tiny river Alun is the ruined Bishops' Palace with its lovely decorated stonework, wheel window, halls and stairways. Restored sufficiently to fire the imagination of young and old, explore the ruined halls and stairways and let your children play while they absorb the atmosphere of this site of medieval power and influence.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

  • From St Davids you can walk to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, both east and west. The cliffs are spectacular; the bird and wildlife is captivating; the sea and sky a constantly changing panorama. The Coast Path circles the Peninsula offering miles of breathtaking coastline which draws visitors back year after year.

Caerfai Beach and Whitesands Beach

  • Just a short 12 minute walk from Seal's Nook leads to Caerfai Beach. This dog friendly beach is a family-friendly cove perfect for sandcastles and rock pooling. A short drive will take you to the Blue Flag beach at Whitesands - popular with families and surfers alike. The cafe serves breakfast and evening meals in the summer season or why not enjoy a takeaway and sit on the beach to see the spectacular sunsets.

Coastal Shuttle Buses

  • If you would like to leave your car behind, jump onto the local coastal bus service - and travel up or down the coast. You can leave and join the bus at will and services run the length of the coastal path.

Boat Trips - book in St Davids to visit the offshore islands

  • Boat trips to suit all tastes leave from St Justinians during the season (April to October) to circle Ramsey Island and to see the marine wildlife, birds and spectacular Pembrokeshire coastal scenery.
  • Go dolphin and whale spotting too with longer trips out to Grassholm and the lighthouse! Join boat trips from the old lifeboat slip but book your tickets in St Davids at one of the boat booking offices.

Solva Harbour and coastal village

  • To the east of St Davids is the little harbour village of Solva - a real jewel of the west Wales coast. The sheltered harbour is an ideal place to sail, canoe or walk the beach or coast path. Afterwards relax and find refreshments while you visit the individual shops and galleries, pubs and restaurants that the village offers.

Woollen Mills at Solva and Tregwynt

  • The Solva Woollen Mill, in its pretty setting in Middle Mill, Solva, is the oldest working woollen mill in Pembrokeshire with an original restored waterwheel. Watch the working mill and then enjoy tea in the tea room and perhaps buy a souvenir in the mill shop.
  • Melin Tregwynt near the north coast beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach heralds a new spirit in Welsh design. They sell exclusive wool blankets, throws and cushions (as found in Seal's Nook) and combine authentic Welsh tradition with innovative and modern design.

Porthgain Village and harbour

  • On the north coast, the village of Porthgain was once a prosperous nineteenth century industrial harbour exporting slate from quarries at Abereiddi and Porthgain itself. The village is now popular for water sport enthusiasts - boaters, rowers, fishermen and canoeists - their activities overlooked by relics of the industrial past.
  • The village can be busy in summer. It is on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, served by the Strumble Shuttle (the local bus service) and offers the visitor galleries and a gift shop and refreshments at the popular Sloop Inn and Shed Fish Restaurant.

Outdoor activities

  • At TYF (in the heart of St.Davids) a choice of thrilling activities awaits you, canoeing, coasteering, sailing, surfing and lots more. Activity days available for children and for families to enjoy.

Golf Clubs at St Davids and Priskilly

  • Within a mile of Seals Nook is St Davids City Golf Club, the most westerly golf course in Wales. This 9 hole course with 18 tees is playable all year round - no winter greens, no winter tees, no muddy feet - and has fabulous views overlooking Whitesands Bay, Ramsey Sound and the infamous 'Bitches' stretch of water just south of St Davids Head.
  • Priskilly Forest Golf Club at Castlemorris is a family owned 9 hole course set in mature parkland with panoramic views. Beginners and families are welcome and there is a good bar, restaurant and beautiful walks for non players.

Family Days out in Pembrokeshire

  • Further south in the county there are theme parks galore with diversions for families. Look up Oakwood Theme Park, Bluestone Water Park, Folly Farm Zoo, Manor Wildlife Park and Heatherton Country Sports for a good mix.

Seals Nook is a charming townhouse in the tiny city of St Davids, a delightful base for exploring the St Davids Peninsula and highlights of Pembrokeshire.
