Lilac Tree Cottage is a charming pet friendly rural retreat in the heart of beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside close to local beauty spots and footpaths.


Pembrokeshire cosy rural retreat just for 2 (plus a babe in arms and maybe a doggy friend too!)

  • Surrounded by glorious Pembrokeshire countryside, this pet friendly cottage is a country retreat tucked away in the middle of a row of 5 small cottages – a perfect spot for relaxing 'away from it all'.
  • Set by the side of a tiny private lane close to the pretty village of St Nicholas, the cottage has been lovingly restored and furnished by the owners, who live next door.
  •  The country style kitchen is warm and welcoming with a Rayburn (for hot water and central heating only) and a beamed ceiling.  There is a woodburner in the cosy  sitting room from where French doors open onto an enclosed and very sheltered terrace and lawn – lovely for al fresco dining and sundowners!
  • Local beauty spots and footpaths include one leading up to a Neolithic burial chamber from where there are fantastic panoramic views of the whole of St Davids Peninsula including Garn Fawr – made famous by the artist John Piper who had his studio here in a traditional stone cottage. 
  • Nearby is the beautiful North Pembrokeshire rugged coast with the meandering Coastal Path, now part of the All Wales Coastal Path, and the secluded pebble beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach -  backed by woodlands carpeted with bluebells, wood anemones, primroses and wild garlic in early spring.

  • Cottage Caterers (01348 891296) are within a short drive – choose from a range of home prepared meals specially designed for reheating in your own kitchen – wonderful after a day out exploring – no cooking!


  • This is a viewing point on the Coastal Path famous for seal and bird watching as well as views along the fantastic coastal panorama.

'Strumble Shuttle' 

  • A ‘hail and ride’ coastal bus service which stops in the village 3 times a day in the summer – ride all the way to Newport via Fishguard in the North or down to St Davids in the south via Porthgain – with lots of stops and places to visit in between -   hop off and on when and where you like and no car parking!

Pembrokeshire countryside

  • Away from the coast meander along tiny country lanes whose hedgebanks are a riot of  white, pink & blue wild flowers in early summer and discover pretty villages and ancient churches -  St Nicholas Church is on the route of ‘Saints & Stones’ – one of the 'Pilgrim Ways' of Pembrokeshire.

Tregwynt Woollen Mill

  • Do visit Tregwynt Mill – this world famous working mill weaves and sells exclusive Welsh wool blankets, throws and cushions, furniture, accessories and clothing  - authentic Welsh tradition with innovative and modern design – there is a tea shop here too serving lovely home made food.


  • This ancient hilltop village has a pub serving food and an interesting Church (also on the Saints & Stones circuit).  
  • Take time out and enjoy refreshments (daily between 8 am and 5pm)  and perhaps choose a souvenir at the newly opened Siop Fach Tea Room & Collectables

Priskilly Golf Club

  • A short drive away is Priskilly Golf Club - experts and beginners alike welcome –  there is also an excellent 19th hole with delicious home made food.


  • This small village is only a short drive away and has the award winning Gwaun Butchers (also a post office) which sells local meat, cheese and freshly baked bread as well as  ‘Somethings Cooking’– an excellent fish and chip takeaway-restaurant, a family friendly pub (The Harp) and a small supermarket too.
St Davids
  • Britain's tiniest and most characterful city of St Davids has a number of interesting shops, galleries, ice-cream kiosk, cafes, bars, pubs, TYF Adventure Activities provider, ticket offices for boat trips and a magnificent Cathedral. Well worth a visit. Complete your day with a trip to glorious Whitesands Bay jus a mile and a half further.
Dr Beynon's Bug Farm & Grub Kitchen
  • This fascinating award winning insect world is captivating. Enjoy the Tropical Bug Zoo, Bug Museum, Up Close Sessions, Arts & Crafts, Artist in Residence, Gift Shop, Workshops, Walled Garden, Bug Farm Trail and Rustic Indoor Play Barn as well as sampling dishes made with edible insects in the Grub Kitchen.
Boat Trips
  • Boat trips leave from Martins Haven on the Marloes Peninsula for Skomer Island and from St Justinians near St Davids for Ramsey Island. Expect to see breathtaking coastal scenery and a wealth of wildlife, in particular myriad seabirds including comical puffins, robust little manx shearwaters and many Atlantic seals.
Pembrokeshire Zoos
  • Manor Wildlife Park and Folly Farm near Tenby have an amazing selection of exotic animals on show. Expect to see lions, tigers, rhino, gibbons, lemurs, meerkats, ostriches, giraffes, penguins, zebras and more.

Day Trips to Ireland
  • The Irish Ferry leaves daily from Fishguard Harbour. Make a day tour to the Emerald Isle. Go as a foot passenger and use the local buses on the other side or take your car.
