Guide to Skomer Island
Found off the southwestern tip of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is the wildlife haven and landscape beauty spot, Skomer Island. As well as being a National Nature Reserve, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is encompassed by a Marine Nature Reserve. Managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, many visitors head to the island to catch a glimpse of the diverse and captivating creatures who frequent it. Stealing the wildlife limelight is the breeding colony of Manx Shearwaters and Atlantic Puffins but it‚??s likely you‚??ll also be in with a chance of spotting seals, razorbills, guillemots and more!
The island is open to visitors from Easter through to October, with a boat taking you there from Martin‚??s Haven. Currently, there‚??s no pre-booking for the boat, so be sure to arrive early to avoid missing your chance of a visit.
